The Commissioning Process
De Authorship
Vision & Consultation
Every Old Milan creation begins with your vision. During our 90-minute consultation, we don't just take 28 precise measurements—we explore your aesthetic preferences, lifestyle needs, and the story you want your garment to tell.

Co-Creation & Material Selection
From our curated library of 300+ fabrics, you become the creative director of your commission. Our textile experts guide you through material properties and possibilities, but the final selections are yours to make.

Pattern Development
Using your measurements and design choices, our pattern makers draft a unique template that exists only for your commission. This blueprint evolves through three iterations, with each refinement bringing us closer to your vision.

Artisanal Construction
Our tailors spend 25-40 hours bringing your vision to life using traditional techniques: hand-padded collars, pick-stitched seams, and reinforced stress points. Throughout this process, we maintain the integrity of your design choices.

Revelation & Delivery
The moment of revelation: when your vision becomes wearable reality. We present the finished garment for final approval, ensuring every detail matches your commission specifications.

Our Material Philosophy
Wool & Cashmere
Sourced from high-altitude herds in Mongolia and Scotland, our wools are naturally temperature-regulating and durable. We use only virgin wool that's been hand-sorted for consistency.
Linen & Cotton
Grown in nutrient-rich soils of Italy and Egypt, our plant fibers are harvested at peak maturity for maximum strength. Each batch is tested for colorfastness and shrinkage before approval.
Silk & Specialty Fibers
Our peace silk is harvested after moths emerge naturally, while our vicuña comes from protected herds in the Andes. These rare fibers are reserved for our most exclusive commissions.
